"Securing Our Future"
The Armidale Dumaresq Community will foster continued excellence in cultural, spiritual and social development and economic growth in order to provide a quality living environment for all of its citizens. We will recognise, respect and explore the richness of our cultural, agricultural and geographic diversity, and strive to be an excellent place in which to work, acquire knowledge and conduct business. Our landscape is one of beauty and our environment, both natural and man made, is something we treasure. We will nurture them for our own enjoyment and that of visitors.Our community's diverse origins and cultures are valuable resources, rich in opportunity. We will seek to better understand, respect and appreciate them. We will offer a friendly, supportive environment for those recently arrived from other countries and for our indigenous people, and will actively foster cultural, educational and commercial relations at national and international levels.
We will build upon and promote Armidale Dumaresq's reputation as a centre of excellence for education at all levels - from preschool to university and beyond. We will recognise the important links between lifelong education, job opportunities, income and quality of life, and will encourage sustainable economic growth and the development of appropriate industry and employment in our Region. To this end, we will build on our existing strengths in business, research, information technology, environmental management and agriculture and continue to develop and market Armidale Dumaresq as a strong regional centre. We will strive to build a strong and diverse economic base for our community by exploring all avenues of opportunity as they arise.
Armidale Dumaresq will value its citizens as its greatest assets and we will provide for them a caring, safe and healthy environment where they can develop to their full potential. We will seek to ensure equitable access to services, employment, education, sport and recreational opportunities for all, regardless of age or disadvantage.
Real improvements to Armidale Dumaresq's services and amenities to ensure our Region has safe roads and transport, deals with social problems appropriately and is responsive to the community's needs. Armidale Dumaresq is already distinguished by its historic buildings, museums, sports and arts facilities, and by the activities associated with them. We will strive to maintain superior facilities and programs, accessible to all, in music, theater, dance, visual arts, literature and sport.
Diligent attention will be given to our community conscience to ensure it will be one of openness, tolerance, communication and coordination. A sense of mutual respect and responsibility will govern our relationships with one another.
