Environmental Education
The "Sustainable Councils, Schools & Communities" project is a joint project of Armidale Dumaresq, Guyra, Uralla Shire and Walcha Councils. The project has been assisted by the NSW Government through Our Environment It's a Living Thing program. The Project consists of: 1. A kit comprising eight topics to provide a local resource to be used ny teachers and students in the Armidale, Guyra, Uralla and Walcha Local Government Areas. Hard copies and CDs are available from the primary schools' libraries in the area concerned. The topics may also be downloaded (see below). 2. As part of the project, 12 columns appeared in the Armidale Express and Armidale Express Extra (sponsored by Armidale Express) during February and March 2005. Pdf copies may be downloaded (see below). 3. A radio campaign on 2AD/100.3 FM)starting end of March 2005. 4. A Sustainable Living Competition to discover the most sustainable households in the Armidale Dumaresq, Guyra, Uralla and Walcha Local Government Areas which started in November 2004 and ended in January 2005. Results available in Column 12. 5. A supplement on Sustainable Living in Armidale Express Extra (30 March 2005). This supplement also contains examples of Sustainable Living in New England Area and useful tips on sustainable living taken from the Sustainable Living Competition, as well as ways of reducing our Ecological Footprint.
