Make friends at the Visitor Information Centre

Moving to Armidale has become quite the trendy thing to do, with new families arriving each week.

While Armidale is a friendly city, many new arrivals find it is often difficult to make new friendships and build new relationships when they have left the familiar surroundings of their previous home.

To help new arrivals meet a few more new, and long term, residents, the Armidale Visitor Information Centre (VIC) is holding a “meet and greet” afternoon tea on the last Tuesday of each month.

“Armidale people are very friendly, but we know from our conversations with the many people who come into the Visitor Information Centre, that it is sometimes difficult to build new friendships,” Armidale Tourism and Marketing Manager Stuart Allardice said.

“As we are now moving into spring, it is the perfect time for people to start getting to know each other. During winter in Armidale, residents tend to stay inside their own homes, but with the warmer weather, now is a good time to start holding barbecues and family outings.”

The Visitor Information Centre afternoon tea is being co-ordinated by local resident and VIC volunteer Sue Grace. Sue hopes that the afternoon tea with become a regular event, held on the last Tuesday of each month.

If you would like to attend the meet and greet afternoon tea, phone Sue or Renee on 6772 4655 or simply turn up between 2pm and 3pm to the VIC, 82 Marsh Street (next to Hungry Jacks) on the last Tuesday of each month.

NOTE: This Afternoon tea will not be conducted on Christmas Day, which is the last Tuesday in December, it will be held the Tuesday before on the 18th December 2007.
