Flood Mapping

The Map below shows the approximate extent of flooding through Armidale from rising floodwaters from natural watercourses for:

• The 1% Annual Exceedance Probability (AEP) flood, sometimes commonly referred to the 1 in 100 year flood and
• The Probable Maximum Flood (PMF).

The Map has been prepared from information contained in the Armidale Flood Study 2004 and the Update for Martins Gully 2011 with flood behaviour predicted using computer modelling with the model calibrated from information collected from real events.

The Flood Study has been prepared with reference to Australian Rainfall and Runoff - A Guide to Flood Prediction (reprinted 1998) produced by The Institution of Engineers, Australia and the NSW Government's Floodplain Management Manual - the Management of Flood Liable Land (2005)."
