Exempt development is development that has minimal impact on the local environment and does not require approval from Council. Many minor works fall into this category.

Please read the fact sheet that relates to your proposed development and complete the checklist at the end of the fact sheet to ensure your intended development is exempt from approval.

If the development does not meet all of the criteria specified in the exempt development codes, you will need to make an application for either Complying Development, or a Development Application before you can start any construction, demolition or other development.
