Armidale’s youth invited to attend Youth Forum

Last modified: October 20, 2009 - 8:10 AM

Armidale Dumaresq Council, in collaboration with the Youth Service Network, is inviting the region's young people to participate in the 2009 Youth Forum, being held on Tuesday, October 27. The aim of the forum is to discuss the wants, needs, hopes and dreams of young people in our community.

Armidale Dumaresq Council's Youth Services co-ordinator Sally Schofield said the forum would look at a variety of issues facing young people including mental health, drugs and alcohol, entertainment and recreation.

"It is intended that the young people who attend the Forum will be selected to represent the larger youth population and their views, thoughts and concerns will be relayed by the young people in attendance to dignitaries and decision makers on the day," Ms Schofield said.

"We hope to get feedback from young people about what they want from their community. We also hope that this will be the first step in getting regular feedback from young people to enable the Council and the wider community with information to use when making decisions that will affect young people."

Feedback from the Youth Forum will be made available to the wider public after the event.
