During this time she gave of her musical skills and talent to local schools, church groups, charities and singing students. She is thrilled to be presenting her new show in Armidale where she spent many years of her life. Samantha was a student of Rocky River Public School, Armidale High School and The University of New England.
This rendition of the work by international director Scott Blick (currently artist in residence at The Lock Up, Newcastle) is a delightful farce about the social classes. The piece deals with a wealthy landowner’s right to assert his authority in his own house against his quick witted, upwardly mobile maid. Translated into colloquial English, the piece has been set in 1860’s Australia, a period when the countries social hierarchy was being redeemed.
In her recent Blue Bottle Production of ‘Drusella and Hagatha’ a reviewer wrote that “Cobcroft can have the audience laughing early in a song but feeling sadness about the lovelorn dilemma by the end” The Newcastle Herald
Director Scott Blick and Soprano Samantha Cobcroft have worked together for the second consecutive year in sell out performances that have received exceptional reviews. This intimate comical piece compromising of comic actor, Soprano, Baritone and pianist are set to deliver a repeat of excellence in artistic creativity and performance.
