Armidale Regional Council (ARC) will honour the achievements of the Year 12 graduating class of 2025 with a special community celebration in Beardy Street Mall on Monday 22 September.
All Year 12 students from Armidale and Guyra are invited to take part in a ceremonial walk from Central Park to the Beardy Street Mall stage, where they will be presented with a commemorative certificate from the Mayor recognising their hard work and dedication.
ARC Mayor Sam Coupland, said the event was a chance for the community and families to come together and celebrate a significant milestone in the lives of local young people.
“Graduating Year 12 is a major achievement, and it reflects years of commitment, resilience and personal growth,” said Mayor Coupland.
“This ceremony is our way of saying congratulations and letting our young people know how proud we are of them. Whether they’re heading into further study, work, or taking time to explore their options or travel, they’ve reached an important turning point and deserve to be celebrated.
“We hope this event becomes a cherished tradition in Armidale - one that brings families, schools and the wider community together to support and uplift our future leaders.”
Students are asked to arrive at Central Park at 3.30pm. The walk will commence at 4pm and will proceed across Rusden Street, past the Council office, through the alleyway between BooBooks and Tattersalls, and into the mall.
A drone will capture an aerial photo of the group before the walk begins, and students are not required to wear school uniforms. Family and friends are welcome to form a guard of honour along the route to the mall stage.
A free barbecue will follow for students to enjoy together and celebrate the completion of their schooling journey.
