Albion Park Pedestrian Bridge Replacement

At its Ordinary Council Meeting on 24 July 2024, Council endorsed the appointment of the principal contractor for the design and construction of Albion Park Pedestrian Bridge Replacement.

Armidale and Guyra saleyards upgrade

In consultation with key stakeholders, detailed design works were completed in late November 2022, to upgrade the Armidale and Guyra saleyards. The project has been funded under the Bushfire Local Economic Recovery Fund, co-funded by the Australian and NSW Governments.

At the Ordinary Council meeting held on 22 May 2024, Council endorsed the East Mall Detailed Concept Design Plans which will see the area of Beardy Street commonly known as ‘The East Mall’ transformed into a vibrant new public space.

Armidale Regional Council will be undertaking solar safety light installation along a stretch of the Armidale Pedestrian and Bicycle Link (‘footpath’ or ‘cycleway’) between Niagara Street and Elm Avenue.

Armidale Sportsground Carpark Upgrade

Armidale Regional Council will be completing the upgrade of the Armidale Sportsground Carpark, providing safe, off-street, all-weather parking for the public when there are sporting or major events at the venue. The construction of the carpark will commence on Tuesday the 10th of September 2024 with the works expected to be completed within 12 weeks, weather permitting.

Bridge renewal project

Council has implemented a Bridge Renewal Strategy that since 2017 has been progressively replacing aged timber bridges throughout the Armidale region with new concrete structures. With 31 structures originally identified under the program, we have completed 13 construction upgrades with 18 timber bridge structures remaining.
