A significant body of work for council in 2024 was the Local Strategic Planning Statement which sets out how we will grow our population toward 50,000, and in turn generate economic and social benefit.
One important factor that will leverage our efforts is the New England Renewable Energy Zone (REZ)!
The REZ clusters large-scale renewable energy projects so that developments benefit from economies of scale, supported by network infrastructure. Besides contributing to the essential energy transition, the REZ is a catalyst for new investment, enterprise, jobs, and growth in our region.
The construction phase will likely last many years, providing a significant boost to the local economy, and Council will be keen to capitalise on post construction opportunities.
