This 10 week class is for anyone interested in learning to draw as the old masters did. Once you have a trained eye you will begin to develop your own style and be confident with exploring new mediums.

You might be a complete beginner, or someone who has dabbled but perhaps lacks confidence and is seeking support and mentoring.

We Will Explore

  • Learning to observe and develop your artistic eye
  • Learn techniques of light direction, shading and pencil craft
  • Learn to develop your right brain and play in the drawing zone
  • Learn about perspective and how to apply it
  • Consolidate basic skills which can fast-track entry into painting and other mediums.

Course Tutor

Annie Minton is a retired graphic designer and web developer who has been passionate about drawing all her life.

She believes that drawing is a learned skill and that anyone can develop their creativity and accomplish works of art to be proud of if they have the desire.

Annie believes there is a popular misconception that you have to be born with talent to become an artist, but even the great masters required tutelage before becoming proficient in their chosen medium. A desire to learn is the most important step to becoming an artist.

Course Materials

Bring nothing to your first class but a smile and a desire to learn! An initial pack of drawing materials will be supplied at the first class you attend and will be all you need to start.

As you progress, other materials and mediums will be explored.

Cost: $300 / $260 NEAS members.
