Armidale Regional Council is undertaking essential water infrastructure works on Bradley Street, between Moredun Street and Mackenzie Street, to improve the reliability and performance of the local water supply.

The project involves the construction of a new 150mm PVC water main along both the eastern and western footpaths of Bradley Street. This new infrastructure will replace the existing 4‑inch asbestos cement water main, which has reached the end of its design life and has been experiencing ongoing flow and pressure issues.

Once completed, the new water main will provide a more reliable and consistent water supply for residents and businesses now and into the future.

Project scope

As part of the works, Council will also:

  • Install new copper water service connections to each property, replacing ageing galvanised and PVC connections
  • Install new electronic “smart” water meters at each property

The smart meters will allow residents to better monitor their water usage and help identify potential leaks within their property at an early stage.

What the works will involve

The project includes:

  • Construction of a new water main and service lines within both footpaths
  • Renewal of all existing property connections to the new water main
  • Installation of electronic smart water meters

Impacts during construction

During construction, residents and businesses may experience:

  • Temporary water shutdowns while connections are transferred to the new main
  • Short‑term loss of driveway access during works directly in front of properties
  • Construction noise
  • Temporary closure of sections of the footpath
  • Temporary parking restrictions in sections of Bradley Street

Council acknowledges these disruptions and appreciates the community’s patience while this important upgrade is completed.

Funding and delivery

The Bradley Street Water Main Renewal Project is funded by Armidale Regional Council’s Water Services and will be delivered by Council’s in‑house crews.

Council is committed to maintaining and upgrading critical water infrastructure to ensure safe, reliable and efficient services for the Armidale community.
