Film Session 1 - Film production basics with Daniel Elliott.
Take a tour of the cameras, greenscreen and computers running the video editing software.
Learn the fundamentals of a video camera: ISO, Aperture, Exposure, Frame Rates, Shutterspeed and how the relationships work between all of these different elements.

Film Session 2 - Film pre-production with Daniel Elliott.
Learn the steps of film production before the camera starts rolling.
Learn to develop a script and storyboard. The times when you need both, the times you need neither. What's right for your project? I call this Proactive or Reactive film making.
Learn about budgeting and scheduling (I can touch on this really loosely, it's a rabbit hole of a subject).
Break down a script to find out what you will need to shoot each scene. (This is usually what your storyboards are for)

Film Session 3 - Film production with Daniel Elliott.
Learn how to shoot your film and capture audio.
This will include lighting, framing and directing. We will go over the camera fundamentals again as well as it will have been over a week since we last messed around with one, and how those fundamentals impact lighting and framing.

Film Session 4 - Film editing with Daniel Elliott.
Learn how to edit your footage.
This includes things like pacing when it comes to cutting, what feels good, what doesn't. Also a bit of sound effects and music work, colour grading.

No equipment is required for this workshop, though participants can bring in their own video cameras, phones and / or laptop with either Adobe Premier Pro or Davinci Resolve. It would be ideal if participants had a prepared short script, storyboard and footage from the past 3 workshops with them.

Stop Motion Animation
Get some hands on creating a stop motion animation. Using a variety of elements from lego to clay, we will be creating a short stop motion film while practicing film techniques such as camera work, lighting, sound and editing.

What to bring
We will provide all the equipment, though you are welcome to bring a tablet or phone with stop motion software, or any props or creations you wish to use in your stop motion animation.
