Armidale Regional Council was awarded funding via the Black Summer Bushfire Recovery Grant Program. The objectives of this grant opportunity were to support recovery and resilience of communities impacted by the 2019-20 bushfires, and build stronger communities by supporting social, economic, and built environment recovery.

As described in the Lower Creek Community Hall and Evacuation Centre(PDF, 2MB) flyer, the facility will feature:

  • Slab on ground
  • Metal construction (cladding and roofing)
  • Fully lined and insulated
  • Off grid power system
  • Air conditioning
  • Hall space (130m2) and internal store
  • Accessible toilet/shower
  • Kitchen
  • 2 x unisex toilets
  • External store and outdoor covered area.

Around the hall there will be:

  • On-grade carpark for approximately 30 cars
  • Accessible parking space
  • 20kl water tank for fire fighting
  • 70kl water tank for building use
  • On-site water treatment system
