In partnership with the University of Tasmania, Asthma Australia has recently launched a new initiative aimed at supporting residents in the Armidale region to transition to more environmentally sustainable heating solutions.

Through the 'Making the Switch' program, successful applicants will receive a $3,000 subsidy to assist with the removal of their woodfire heater and the installation of a suitable reverse cycle air conditioner.

Asthma Australia highlights that smoke pollution from domestic wood heaters is a major contributor to air pollution during the winter months in many communities.

Eligibility criteria for the program included being a resident of the Armidale Region, aged 18 years or older, and not currently living in a rental property.

Please note that applications for this program have now closed.
