Armidale Regional Council’s (ARC) Engagement team has started delivering sustainability education across the community, focusing on water conservation and waste awareness.

The program recently commenced at the Guyra Neighbourhood Centre, where participants took part in an interactive session on what should and shouldn’t go in household bins. As part of the activity, attendees completed a waste sorting challenge and achieved a perfect score, demonstrating strong knowledge and commitment to doing the right thing.

In addition to waste education, the ARC Engagement Officer, Paulette Henry, discussed the importance of saving water, particularly as the region remains under water restrictions. Participants were encouraged to support and help Council promote water conservation by being mindful of their daily water use and adopting small changes at home.

Council highlighted that community support is essential in reducing water demand and protecting the region’s long-term water supply.

The visit to Guyra Neighbourhood Centre marks the first of several planned engagements, as Council continues working with community groups to promote sustainable practices across the region.

Organisations interested in taking part in the program are encouraged to get involved.

If your organisation would like to participate, please email communications@armidale.nsw.gov.au.

By working together reducing waste and helping Council promote water conservation the Armidale regional community can protect local resources now and into the future.
