Armidale Regional Council is undertaking proactive planning to prepare for the possibility of ffuture fuel supply constraints, with some non-essential services potentially impacted if the situation continues.

General Manager James Roncon said there is no immediate fuel issue affecting Council operations, but early preparation is essential to protect service delivery.

“There is no cause for concern at this stage, but sensible planning ensures we’re ready if circumstances change,” said James Roncon

“Our focus is on maintaining essential services while being honest with the community about what adjustments may be required if fuel shortages persist.”

Council is developing a business continuity plan to guide operational decisions, including prioritising critical services and identifying areas where temporary reductions may be necessary.

“If fuel supply issues continue, residents may notice some service levels reduce or projects slow,” James Roncon said.

“These changes would be temporary and carefully managed to minimise community impact.”

Council is also exploring fuel-saving measures such as optional work-from-home arrangements, reduced travel between sites, and greater use of its electric vehicle fleet.

“These steps help us remain efficient and prepared while continuing to support our staff and community,” James Roncon said.

Council will continue to monitor the situation closely and keep the community informed.
