A diverse range of community groups, clubs, and organisations from across the region came together last week for a successful grant writing workshop aimed at strengthening local initiatives and building funding confidence.

Armidale Regional Council hosted the free workshop which was led by Margot Davis, an experienced Economic Development Practitioner and expert in marketing and place-making.

Margot guided attendees through the essentials of the grant writing process, from planning and defining a project to drafting strong applications and managing grants post-submission.

The workshop focused on real-world opportunities such as the Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal (FRRR) Small & Vital program. It included practical exercises, templates, and examples tailored to the needs of rural and regional communities.

Participants also explored how AI tools can support grant writing by saving time, improving structure, and strengthening proposals.

Importantly, the event provided valuable networking opportunities, connecting attendees with each other as well as representatives from funding bodies.

Feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Attendees appreciated the chance to connect with others, as well as the clarity and relevance of the content that will assist them to secure funding for valuable community projects.

This workshop was delivered and funded by Armidale Regional Council. It follows Council's successful 2023 Community Grant Writing Workshop proudly funded by NSW Reconstruction Authority Community Recovery Program and 2024 Community Grant Writing Workshop proudly funded by Armidale Regional Council.
