The 2026 Armidale Autumn Festival Parade - held on Saturday March 21 - is set to glow like never before, with a brand-new prize celebrating creativity and colour.
The float that best captures the spirit of Autumn in all its vibrant glory will be awarded $1,000 in prize money and the title of the Golden Gong, thanks to a new initiative from Armidale Regional Council (ARC).
Renowned as one of the region’s most spectacular showcases of community pride, culture, and seasonal beauty, the parade promises to be bigger and brighter than ever in 2026.
Whether you're a seasoned float builder or a first-time entrant, this is your chance to shine as applications for the 2026 parade are now open.
By introducing this exciting prize, Mayor Sam Coupland said Council hoped to elevate the creativity and interest among parade entrants, encouraging even more locals and community groups to take part in one of the region’s most beloved celebrations.
“It will be hard to beat last year’s parade – which was one of the best I have seen,” said Mayor Coupland. “But with this amazing prize we are hoping even more groups will get behind this fabulous community event and make the parade even more vibrant and exciting.
“The Autumn Festival has always played such a huge part in our community – bringing groups of all different nationalities and from all walks of life together to celebrate the change of seasons.
“Autumn has traditionally been an important season for our region that evokes so much community and civic pride. We’re inviting everyone to register early and start planning their float now.
“With the introduction of the $1,000 prize, we’re hoping to spark even more creativity and excitement in this year’s parade. It’s a fantastic opportunity to showcase your imagination and be part of something truly special in our community.”
