Annual Sanctuary Human Rights Lecture

​Dr. James Cockayne is the first NSW Anti-slavery Commissioner. He will be talking about how to strengthen the state's response to modern slavery, forced labour and human trafficking and how to empower survivers.

Armidale Sanctuary Humanitarian Settlement Inc. is a registered community-based charity in Armidale, New South Wales, that provides practical, social, and educational support to refugees, asylum seekers, and migrants. Working closely with groups like Settlement Services International (SSI) and Northern Settlement Services, the organization has played a major regional role in assisting the settlement of hundreds of refugee families coming to our area.

Dr. James Cockayne is the first independant NSW Anti-slavery Commissioner. He will talk about modern slavery, forced labor and human trafficking. His focus is how to strengthen the state's response and to empower survivers. 

Modern slavery can happen to anyone, anywhere and is often hidden. Learn about modern slavery in Australia, including how many people it affects and who would be at risk.
