A ranger, botanist and ecologist are wandering into the New England and we want you to come too. UNE Discovery is celebrating National Science Week with a 'Discovery Walk'. 4:30pm - Join us and our fellow UNE academics and NPWS ranger on a bush walk in the Oxley Wild Rivers NP (Blue Hole/Gara Gorge) for an outdoor learning activity. Get your hiking boots on, rug up and come along. You'll hear stories and fun facts about the things you’ll see along the way – whether it’s an interesting plant species that you didn’t know existed, or a bug that lives only in the New England, or maybe you’d like to know how the gorge was formed!! Our learned friends will share their knowledge and give you an insight into our local flora, fauna and landscape. At 6:30pm we’ll do a second adventure onto the trail with our spotlighting master to check out what’s happening at night. We’ll need to be quiet on this walk so we don’t spook the wildlife! Maybe we’ll spot a possum, a glider or even a tawny frogmouth. This event is FREE but you will need to book as places will be limited. Self drive. Arrive 4:20pm for 4:30 start.
