Once a month on a Thursday, the Grass Roots Film Club meets at a pub to discuss two films: a prestige film and a cult film. It's an opportunity to get away from algorithms and individual streaming services and to watch and discuss a couple of films each month as part of a group of enthusiasts. We're a physical-media based club and are geared around movies available on Blu-ray or DVD, but we're happy to help members finding streaming options as well. Our two films for this month are:
Bacurau (2019), directed by Kleber Mendonça Filho and Juliano Dornelles
They Live (1988), directed by John Capenter
Our next meeting is at the New England Hotel on Thursday 12 November - if you would like to come along and watch either of the films beforehand, send us a message on our social media pages or an email.
This is a new and evolving group - if you'd like to get involved and help shape it, we would love to hear your ideas about what it could look like.
